As an Engineering Analyst, Payments Trust and Safety, you will investigate payment fraud and abuse, analyse risk data, identify fraud patterns, and develop scalable mitigation strategies. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and global stakeholders to strengthen Google's payment security systems while improving fraud detection, workflow automation, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities

Investigate payment fraud and abuse incidents.

Analyse payment and risk datasets to identify trends and anomalies.

Develop fraud detection and risk mitigation strategies.

Perform statistical analysis using payment and risk data warehouses.

Collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve fraud prevention tools.

Design and implement scalable fraud detection solutions.

Identify workflow bottlenecks and automate processes.

Support new product launches with risk assessments.

Collaborate with global cross-functional stakeholders.

Participate in on-call rotations for high-priority fraud incidents and escalations.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Practical Experience.
2+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Trend Analysis, Statistical Analysis, Project Management, and Defining Project Scope and Deliverables.
- 4+ years of experience in the Payments industry with Risk or Fraud Management.
- Experience querying and analysing large datasets.
- Strong project and program management skills.
- Experience with Python or C/C++.
- Knowledge of R, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar ML libraries.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI.
- Experience improving workflows through automation.
- Strong understanding of fraud prevention and payment risk management.
