Job Overview
Citi is hiring a Java Backend Developer / Applications Developer to join its Technology team in Chennai or Pune. The role involves designing, developing, testing, debugging, and enhancing mission-critical business applications using Java Spring Boot and, depending on the area of focus, Angular.
The position requires working closely with technical and business teams to translate requirements into reliable and scalable software solutions. You will navigate enterprise technology ecosystems and utilize robust CI/CD pipelines to deliver high-quality software.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop application features and system enhancements using Java Spring Boot.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and robust backend services.
- Develop user interface components using Angular where required.
- Analyze technical and business requirements to identify system gaps and scalable solutions.
- Build, test, debug, and maintain application code.
- Investigate application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective fixes.
- Apply software development standards, design patterns, and industry best practices.
- Understand business processes and system workflows to support targeted application development.
- Work with enterprise technology ecosystems, including client-server architecture and databases.
- Identify and escalate potential technology risks and control concerns.

Experience Requirement: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in software development and application programming.

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Core Tech Skills: Working knowledge of Java Spring Boot or Angular. Experience writing, testing, and debugging application code.

Architecture: Understanding of software development practices, patterns, and conventions. Knowledge of client-server architecture and databases.

Preferred: Experience with both Angular and Java Spring Boot. Familiarity with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
